"Women have always been part of the workforce, especially during WWII, when they were encouraged to work as a patriotic duty. After the war, many returned to traditional roles. On September 22, 1949, Shirley Cupp, Irma Beisel, Frances Stuckey, and Mr. Hilary Bufton Jr. founded the National American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) in a time when pursuing careers was frowned upon for women. Bufton remarked that the first ABWA members challenged societal norms and paved the way for future generations. Although progress has been made, ABWA continues to break barriers for women in the business sector."
