CatSkills is a diverse trio based out of Helena, Montana, playing a wide variety of classic rock, country, and more.
The CatSkills were formed in mid 2016 by three musical friends based out of Helena, Montana, Bruce Craig, Ken Nelson & Allan Langdon. Listeners & dancers enjoy their diverse music style, centered on classic rock with a mix of country & other styles.
Bruce has been playing guitar professionally for 40 years, touring across the US & abroad. He spent 24 years in Nashville, TN before relocating back to his hometown Helena, MT in mid 2012, currently residing in Bozeman.
Artists Bruce has toured with include Tommy Tutone, Ronna Reeves, Mindy McCready, Les Taylor & Trace Adkins. Venues he has performed at include the Grand Ole’ Opry House, Radio City Music Hall, Maple Leaf Gardens, Farm Aid, as well as television appearances on Nashville Now, OnStage, Crook & Chase, Grand Ole’ Opry Live, Music City Tonight & more.
Bruce’s experience is diverse, including rock, pop & country music. He is very happy to be back in Montana playing with talented musicians like Ken & Allan. Bruce & Ken played in bands together in Helena for several years from the time they were 15 years old. They are happy to have reunited personally and on stage after many, many years. Bruce’s admiration for Ken & Allan’s musical talents along with the friendship bonds he has formed with them makes him very proud to be an integral part of the CatSkills band.
Ken has spent his entire professional life as a musician playing keyboards in bands across the Pacific Northwest, but most notably in the Montana/Idaho region. Fortunate to have grown up in Helena, MT, he still lives there today.
Most of the groups adventurous enough to hire Ken are “cover bands”, necessarily so because of the demand for well-known dance music. Every once in a while though, some of the regional and national acts traveling through the area are in need of keyboard support services, and Ken has been fortunate enough to provide the necessary tools to get the job done. Some of those who have called on him (or he has incidentally played with) are The Drifters, Charlie Pride, Lou Rawls, Nokie Edwards (The Ventures), Randy Bachmann and many more.
Ken enjoys the original arrangements of the wide variety of music the band covers, having a very symbiotic relationship with Bruce & Allan. All three players are experienced at a high level, and share a passion for great music.
