Reverend Red w/ Matthew from the Colonies

September 10, 2020 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Reverend Red

International touring artist, whose brand of Southern Gothic/Folk Rock and constant evolution of sound has allowed the band to share the stage with bands of multiple genres (Merle Haggard, Iggy Pop, Reverend Horton Heat, and Murder By Death to name a few).

“Since 2009 the Mojave desert-based Reverend Red has built themselves a strong foundation in the Southern Gothic/Folk Rock scene. Their recent European release, “Lakewood Dreamers”, features stories and murder ballads fine-tuned by John Davis (Nick Cave, The Killers, Lana Del Rey) of Metropolis Studios in London. The band has toured relentlessly across the US and Europe with their “play any club, any city” attitude – the result has been them playing national music festivals, music venues, shady dive bars, restaurants, and even a few pizza joints. They will be touring as a duo, playing an intimate set, for a few select shows across the US during the 2020 Covid pandemic.”

Matthew From the Colonies

Hailing from the northern L.A. county town of Lancaster, Matthew From the Colonies was brought up on the sounds of the 60’s and 70’s “Troubadour Folk” scene of Southern California’s past. Recently recognized by the one and only James Taylor for his “Live From the Grey Couch” sessions, he will be sharing his special brand of “Dive Bar Folk” with stories of laughter and heartbreak. As a singer-songwriter he initially found his niche in coffee houses, but he has found his new home in clubs, bars and music festivals across the US.
